In August 2019, the China Quality Certification Center (CQC) issued the “Notice on Changes in Certification Requirements for Lithium Ion Batteries (Groups) and Chargers for Electric Bicycles”, amending the “Safety of Lithium Ion Batteries (Groups) and Chargers for Electric Bicycles And performance certification rules" and the implementation rules of supporting documents, involving product categories: 142002. The specific contents are as follows:

The main revisions of CQC certification rules

1. The name of the rule was changed to "Lithium-ion battery (group) for electric bicycles and charger safety and performance certification rules";

2. Add certification standards GB/T 36972-2018 "Lithium-ion battery for electric bicycles" and GB/T 36944-2018 "Technical requirements for chargers for electric bicycles";

3. Amend the 3.1 division principle of certification unit;

4. Amend the 9.1 product certification mark from CQC S to CQC S&P;

5. The validity period of the certificate is adjusted from "long-term" to "5 years";

Implementation of revised rule requirements

The revision of the rules does not involve certificate renewal. From the date of announcement, applicants can apply for certification in accordance with the revised implementation rules, and enterprises can submit certification applications through the CQC website.
